INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Indianapolis Metropolitan police are actively searching for a person who collided with two people riding a motorcycle. The two people on the motorcycle were injured in the collision but the other vehicle quickly left the scene. Now, the police are searching for the hit and run driver.
The driver of the motorcycle, a man, is currently in the hospital labeled in serious condition. The woman passenger is also now in the hospital and described as being in critical condition. Neither is guaranteed to survive their ordeal, unfortunately. Our thoughts go out to these two as well as their families as we hope they make a recovery.
According to Indianapolis police, the accident happened somewhere around midnight at the intersection of Washington and Denison. This area is located on the west side of town. It’s on the southern border of the Garden City neighborhood.
Police explained the accident by saying that the van was driving on Washington St. when it suddenly turned in front of the motorcycle. This is when it made contact with the motorcycle and subsequently injured the passengers on it. The maroon van, however, proceeded south down Denison St, leaving the scene entirely.
Van involved in hit and run.
The Indianapolis Police Department says they are hunting for a maroon Astro van that may or may not have some damage to the side panel of the vehicle. Witnesses say that the van looked okay as it drove off, but even motorcycles can do serious damage to other vehicles.
Police are asking anybody who may have seen anything or know exactly what happened to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. They will provide updates on the case as they become available. Hopefully we can all work together to catch this driver and serve justice for the motorcyclists.
